Iryu, Team Medical Dragon is about a genius doctor named Asada Ryutaro. He worked for an NGO in places with insufficient facility and medical staff. Despite those harsh conditions he was still able to save many lives using his godlike skills.

There may be some spoilers…
First let me just say, that like any typical Japanese drama, this one is a little too exaggerated when it comes to plot and character development.
- Doctors can’t possibly be that evil. There are committees that will balance everything out when there’s corruption in one department etc.
- Doctors are not saints nor God either.
- Patients die. (which never happens here)
Season 1
First Season starts with Asada working for Meishin University Hospital to help in a revolutionary treatment called Batista operation. It’s an extremely hard operation which has never been done before in Japan.
The Batista operation is considered a radical procedure, removing part (ventricle) of an enlarged heart to “return” the heart to it’s normal size. However, it does not produce significant results for most patients. Heart transplant is still best for those with end-stage congestive heart failure.

Oh well enjoy it for the surgeries I guess. It’s not everyday you’d get to see a live heart.
Season 2

After successfully completing several Batista operations, Asada once again works for an NGO, thus disbanding Team Medical Dragon. Several years later (I think xp) we see him working in a hospital in America. He eventually returns to Japan due to a letter which came to him asking for Team Dragon to unite once more. When he came back he is faced with problems in the medical system, hospitals going bankrupt and patients sacrificed for monetary gain.
What I love about this series:
Awesome surgeries
The more blood and internal organs exposed, the more I’m going to watch something. It may not be realistic most of the time but who cares! xp It’s cool.
Dragon Walk
During important points in the story, everything will slow down and you’ll see coat-flipping scenes, batman style. >__< and then there’s the dragon walk.
This particular scene is from Season 2.
nonexistent love story
Good God thank you. Finally! Sensible writers, who probably gets enough love in their lives, that can write a good story without stitching complicated (and destructive) love blah blah’s. -_-
Kitamura Kazuki

Oozing with sexiness!! haha
No matter what role, whether villain or hero, he carries it very well. I like him better as a villain though. He’s got more screentime to unleash his seme sexi-ness to the world. ahaha ^_^
You can see more of him on these shows: Akihabara@DEEP, Bambino, Hokaben .. others.
Brainwashed enough?
You can watch season 1 and season 2 on crunchyroll or download episodes on your PC.
yosh ~~
I’m off to re-watch season 1. ehehe
Season 3?
I sure hope there is. I’d love to see more blood .. *ahem* medical miracles.
Would you still watch Season 3?

Thanks for the review. I’ve only seen season 2 but I thoroughly enjoyed that.
@Thomas: I prefer Season 1 actually, it toned down a bit on the medical side come season 2.
But I love both seasons…hehe
wish there will be a season 3
i’m not sure where i heard this. is teppei koike here in this series/movie? hahaha xD
@Christel: yes he is
he’s so cute. He looks like Harry Potter in this series. haha
[...]So Teppei is a rookie cop who is most definitely an underdog but has great skills. He always gets these kind of roles huh? With his baby face, I guess that’s expected. I didn’t think he’d be good in acting but his role in Team Medical Dragon changed my mind. [...]
wth?! nasa akihabara@deep si kitamura kazuki?!
*researches*
eeeehh!? wth!? siya si takeshi nakagomi? o_o
@haiburitzu: ehehe yes that’s him. Galing noh? Villain talaga lagi yung role niya. haha
I was laughing hard nung nakasuot siya nang robot suit. so cool…xp
